ADI WORM GEAR
FOR SOLAR TRACKING REDUCER
Fuerkai has developed ADI iron material (austempered ductile iron )for worm gear used on reducer of Concentrating Solar Power industry.
The material of the worm gear changes from steel to ADI iron，which is a significant technical renovation for this product. The ADI worm gear developed by Fuerkai saves the total weight and cost of the gear box. Compared with the surface quenched steel, the ADI iron worm gear is queched entirely from inner core to the surface, which has a even mechanical property and greater strength and toughness due to the unique microstructure gained through the austempering process. The ADI iron material cost saves at least 10% compared to steel.
Based on the perspective of the solar-thermal power generation industry, in order to make the slewing reducer products a substantial drop in production costs, then decrease the purchasing cost of thermal power plant, the only way and the direction is to find a new alternative material with same mechanical properties but lower cost.
